Dudley College student Lisa Parke, 44, from Dudley has won a Regional Learning Award as part of Adult Learners Week 2012. The award recognises new computer skills that Lisa has learnt, despite losing her sight, and which she now uses in her new role with greater responsibilities at her local branch of Samaritans.

Students representing Dudley College once again showed their sporting skills and talents at a national level when they participated in the British Colleges Sports (BCS) National Championship held at the University of Bath, where over 2,500 students from England, Wales and Scotland gathered to take part in 14 different sports.

The number of international students choosing to study at Dudley College is on the increase and the search is on to find more local families, couples and people living on their own who can provide accommodation for them. The college's international team is seeking to recruit more friendly host families living close to the college so they can offer the new students from Europe and beyond a hospitable place to stay.

Work is progressing well on Dudley College's new build 'Dudley Evolve' opening in September 2012.

As Dudley Evolve, Dudley College's new vocational training centre on Tower Street, takes shape, 24 construction students have been employed as apprentices to work with the contractor's team on the new build. The students, who have been studying at the college for the last year, will now be using the bricklaying, plastering and carpentry skills they've been trained in to help build the college's future.

With the Easter break approaching, the Sports department at Dudley College are getting ready to run their popular Team Dudley Sports Activity Camp for 5-12 year olds.

The camp offers children the opportunity to try out a range of sports whilst having fun with their friends and places are available across the Easter holidays for just £30 for 4 days.

Regular visits to Dudley Zoo for Dudley College students are proving to be a monster success! Students on the college's Animal Care and Animal Management courses are benefiting from hands-on, practical work experience at the zoo as a result of the partnership between the two organisations.
