Fundraising Event

by Dudley College on 07 January 2011 08:45

Foundation Degree Musical Theatre studentsFoundation Degree Musical Theatre students at Dudley College were recently involved in a 'Dragons Den' style event having to write and submit a business proposal.  The winner then had the opportunity to put their proposal into practice by arranging a fundraising event.

Anita Garcha age 18 from Smethwick who was the overall winner arranged, with the help of the rest of the students in the group an "East meets West" evening, featuring Dohl drummers, Mehndi artists, Bollywood dancers and a full Indian meal.

Anita said; "It's going to be a fun night, even though it has been very stressful.  It's good knowing it's for a good cause to help people who really need it."

All proceeds raised will be donated to the Wolverhampton branch of the Alzheimer's Society, who will be presented with a cheque on the evening.  The students have raised £1000 in aid of the charity and the event takes place at the Broadway campus Thursday 6th January at 7.30pm.

Sarah Browne Curriculum Leader for Performing Arts said; "We wanted to encourage entrepreneurial skills in the students and thought a Dragon's Den style event seemed an ideal way to do that."
