Course Summary

The course is ideal for those learners with little or no experience who wish to understand and work in the travel and tourism sector. Learners will learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression.

This qualification prepares learners who are looking towards a career in the travel sector. The aim of the C&G Diploma in Introduction to the Travel and Tourism Industry Level 1, is to provide learners the opportunity to gain a broad knowledge and understanding of, and develop skills in, the travel and tourism sector. The course may support progression into a more specialised Level 2 vocational qualification and give learners the potential opportunity, in due course, to enter employment within a wide range of job roles across the travel and tourism sector, for example in travel agencies, visitor attractions or accommodation.This qualification prepares learners who are looking towards a career in the travel sector. Unit 106 The Role of Overseas Resort Representatives
Unit 107 Worldwide Travel and Tourism Destinations
Unit 109 UK Travel and Tourism Destinations
Unit 110 Promotional Materials for Travel and Tourism
Unit 111 Travel and Tourism Itineraries
Unit 112 Recommending Holidays to Suit Customers’ Needs

Course Assessment

The assessments for this qualification are case studies, class-based assignments, constrained assessments, projects, practical's and presentations.

Employer Benefits

Learners will acquire basic skills and knowledge to work in the Travel and Tourism Industry.

Materials

All class-based materials will be provided but you will need to provide stationery. This includes one large A4 ring binder, one A4 course file, plastic wallets and dividers, pens, pencils, eraser, ruler, plain/ lined paper and a USB stick.

There is a dress code of black trousers and blazer, white shirt, plain black footwear which should be purchased independently. A tie/scarf and badge must be purchased at induction (approx. cost £25).

The Tourism department prides itself on its reputation and professionalism in the area. This is evident in the way our students look around the college and, more importantly, whilst representing Dudley College at internal/external events and during work placements.

Qualifications

C&G Diploma in Introduction to the Travel and Tourism Industry Level 1

Progression

This qualification will lead to employment in the industry of Travel & Tourism or to further study / higher education.

In order to progress on to the NCFE Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism Level 2, learner must Pass Level 1 and you need to have achieved functional skills in either maths or English, demonstrated excellent attendance – above 90% (college average) and have shown a positive attitude towards your studies throughout the year.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to study for this qualification, but you must demonstrate a genuine interest in this subject, be prepared to follow high standards of behaviour and display a positive attitude to study.

You must be prepared to be working towards GCSE English and GCSE Maths, or a Functional Skill at Entry 3 level or above.

An initial assessment of your English and maths may be required depending on your qualifications to check you have the skills needed to successfully complete this course.
