Course Content:During the course you will study:- Basic Accounting I and II Work effectively in accounting and finance Basic costing Computerised accounts If you are a Modern Apprentice you may need to take functional skills exams in addition to the above
Course Aims:To provide you with a broad qualification in Accounting. You will learn how to keep manual books and records as well as preparing computerised accounts. You will also cover basic costing, personal effectiveness and health and safety. This one year qualification offered by the AAT could prepare you for work in accounting or be used to progress onto levels 3 and 4 of the AAT accounting qualification.
Entry Requirements:You will need to have a level one qualification in Book-keeping or have recent work experience in an accounting environment. On enrolment you will also be asked to do initial assessments of your literacy, numeracy and IT skills and should be at least at level one in all of these. If Entry level 3 we shall ask you to do further diagnostic tests so that additional support can be arranged - this will form part of your course. If you do not meet the entry requirements above you may wish to join the OCR Book-keeping course (Leaflet 56) To complete your initial assessment at any time please call 01384 363279 to book your appointment.
Course Assessment:You will be assessed mainly by computer based assessment together with some coursework
Materials: The recommended text book costs approximately £25.00 (to be advised at induction) but this is not essential. Textbooks are available from the college library. In addition learning materials will be available to all students on Web CT, our virtual learning environment. Students are required to provide their own stationery including plastic wallets, lever-arch files, folders and calculator. You will pay Dudley college directly for your assessment fees on enrolment. You will also need to pay directly to the AAT your initial fee of £34 and annual subscription of £74 and you must be a current member of AAT throughout the year.
