Covid-19 Lateral Testing

Covid-19 Lateral Testing

From Monday 11th January 2021 the college will be offering the ability for staff and students to access the quick COVID-19 tests known as the “lateral flow test”. The test is able to show if there is presence of COVID-19 in an individuals’ system. A further PCR test, which college has a good supply of is needed to be conducted to conclusively confirm this.

During lockdown testing will be available to vulnerable students and leaners who are the children of critical workers, who are accessing college and when the college reopens in February 2021 all staff and learners will be able to access the test weekly to ensure we can help prevent the spread of the virus and protect as many individuals as possible. All testing is voluntary, and does not replace but adds to the general Public Health guidelines we already have in place through the college.

In order to take the test you must first give us permission to do so. For the majority of people, they will be able to give consent themselves on the day of the test. For a small number of learners their parent/guardian will need to give this permission in advance.
