Apprenticeships - a choice for school leavers
Every student in their final year of school has a choice about what they do when they leave. Apprenticeships are one of those choices.
Throughout the academic year, we will be hosting a number of live virtual talks, aimed at our future apprentices and their parent/guardian. These fun, informative events will tell you all you need to know about what it’s like being an apprentice. If you would like to register to attend a virtual event, make sure you visit the courses section of the website and apply for the apprenticeship of your choice, you will then receive an invite to the next available session.
If you are currently in year 11 and looking to go onto an apprenticeship, please see below to view a short video where our recruitment team explain all about apprenticeships and how they work.
If you have any questions regarding your application for an Apprenticeship, please do not hesitate to contact Admissions on 01384 363 333.
Apprenticeship Academies 2021
We’re running our Engineering & Manufacturing Academy this summer.
Designed specifically for school leavers who want to go onto an Engineering apprenticeship in September, our academy prepares the next generation of professionals for the world of work.
Our academy offers you the opportunity to come into college for up to 2 weeks during the summer break and get hands on experience. You’ll also enjoy an introduction to drawing and machining techniques, get CV writing support and interview coaching.
We also work with hundreds of employers across the West Midlands, who we’ll be inviting to come along to meet with our academy students.
To register your interest, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also find out more in our academy guide.
August 2019 saw our first Apprenticeship Academy. Last year we expanded this to include three new academies:
- Engineering and Manufacturing - Find out more in this YouTube video.
- Modern Methods of Construction - Find out more in this YouTube video.
- Hairdressing and Barbering
Despite the covid-19 pandemic, and with some small alterations to course content and delivery to ensure learner and staff safety – we were able to run all three academies through a blend of virtual learning and on-site delivery and we are currently working with the 60+ academy graduates to find their ideal apprenticeship.
