Addressing the future skills and evolving needs of the construction industry at Advance II
The construction industry is never far from the spotlight with major infrastructure projects, house building and low carbon priorities on the Government’s agenda. To ensure that employers and individuals have the skills and technology to respond to growing demand efficiently and effectively, we have invested over £12million in Dudley Advance II - a 37,000 square foot purpose-built centre and a national first in the Further Education sector.
Construction output in the West Midlands alone is forecast to grow at an annual average rate of 1.3 per cent between 2017 and 2021, with employment expected to grow at an average of 0.4 per cent a year in the five years to 2021. In real terms, that’s an average recruitment requirement of around 2,800 more employees.*
