Library Research Centres
Library Services provides a range of resources and services to support research and teaching at the college.
We hold over 40,000 volumes spanning all curriculum areas, to ensure you have a range of resources to support your studies.
A huge selection of online resources are available through the Athens Online Portal, including access to over a million publications and journals.
There are a range of online resources offering bespoke learning materials for specific programmes of study including Drama Online (a resource of theatre scripts), Chem Spider (a chemical modelling tool) and ebrary (a virtual reading room for ebooks).
In addition, the library takes over 30 journals each month which are available to view, including The Economist, New Statesman, Wallpaper: New Scientist and Vogue, with back copies available.
As part of your course induction, The Library offers an Essential Byte session where staff will talk you through how to get the best out of what they have to offer. The basics of data search, E-safety and reference management including Harvard Referencing will be covered.
The full Library Catalogue is web-based and can easily be accessed from a home computer, allowing you to search, reserve and renew items at any time of the day and night.
With the ability to access prescribed reading lists recommended for your course of study and the ability to build your own lists, there are plenty of ways to access the volume and levels of information you need to complete your assignments or read around your areas of interest.
With three fully-qualified librarians and a number of learning resource assistants on-hand to offer help and support, the Library will be an invaluable resource to your studies.
Open Tuesday – Thursdays until 7pm, the Library is open for part-time learners too.
Ipoint Learning Centres
Dotted across our campus you will find iPoint centres that have everything you need for individual or group study. With access to our online learning environments including Office 365 and ProPortal, you can research the virtual learning environment, review lecture and seminar material, contribute to discussion boards or simply check your email.
Staff in the centres can also provide interactive whiteboard training for when you have to give a formal presentation or simply assist with basics like WiFi access.
