Like most things in life, what you get out of your Higher Education experience will largely depend on what you put into it. That’s why we would encourage you to get involved in the extra curricular activities such as Students’ Union.
Dudley College Students’ Union is an organisation that represents your interests at the college. It campaigns for learner rights, speaks on your behalf, helps learners with financial problems and organises a range of social and educational activities.
The Students’ Union is an independent organisation democratically run by learners for learners. All learners that are enrolled onto any course automatically become a member of the Union which is free and offers lots of opportunities for learners to get the most out of their time spent at College.
Being a member of the Students' Union has lots of benefits, you can obtain an NUS card giving you access to a wide range of discounts, promotions and competitions.
Elections for learners to become part of the leadership of the Students’ Union take place during October and May each year. The Union employs one full-time sabbatical President who acts as the lead advocate of the learner body and is a member of the College’s Corporation.
If you choose to get involved you will not only have great fun and make many new friends, you will also gain valuable experience. The personal, social and transferable skills for work, education and life that you will develop will be amazing for your CV!
Throughout the year, the Union runs a programme of activities which include a Freshers Fayre, trips to Parliament, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, nightclub parties and intercurriculum sporting activities. There is also a range of events directly related to specific learner clubs and learner requests.
The Union is an affiliate member of the National Union of Students (NUS), the national voice of learners helping them to campaign, get cheap learner discounts and provide advice on living learner life to the full. The Students’ Union office is located at The Broadway Campus.
