Dudley College is honoured to have hosted the third annual InnMain conference. Held from the 14th to the 16th of May 2014, the conference brought together partners from ten countries across Europe to explore ways of working together to enhance vocational education across the continent.
Founded in 2012, InnMain is a network of educational institutions, companies, chambers of commerce and entrepreneurs working in the field of Maintenance and Building Installations partnering to foster innovation in education in Europe. The group’s main objective is to improve the quality of teachers and trainers involved in education and the quality of training programmes.
Following a preliminary meeting held on the 14th May, the conference was opened last Thursday by Dudley’s principal, Lowell Williams, and the president of the group, Antonio Mir of the Xabec Professional Training Centre in Spain:
The first day of the conference was dedicated to sharing experience of various issues relating to education. Dudley College lead a workshop on assessing and teaching English language, while other partners delivered sessions on developing quality international exchanges, accreditation and innovation in vocational education. These workshops gave delegates the chance to share their experiences and get ideas to take back to their organisations. And, despite all the travel involved in the conference, they were still happy to ‘fly’ Dudley College Air!
The second day of the conference was based around hearing about international exchanges, with a number of participants in various mobility projects skyping the meeting to tell us of their experiences. We also discussed the partnership’s website, elected officers for the next two years, and welcomed two new partners to the group: the Instituto Tecnico Statale “A. Deffenu” in Italy and IBW College of Higher Education and Training in Switzerland.
We were also able to promote Dudley, with a tour of the college’s exciting new Learning Quarter and a visit to the Mayor of Dudley:
The conference closed with the cutting of a cake made especially for the occasion by Lisa Shakeshaft of Dudley College:
The conference was incredibly successful, and all InnMain partners left with a desire to continue the excellent work of the network over the coming years. It was a pleasure to welcome the group to Dudley, and we look forward to meeting you all again soon!
