Dudley Holocaust Memorial Day Event
Dudley North MP, Ian Austin, and Dudley College Students Union are working together once again to organise this years Holocaust Memorial Day giving local people the opportunity to commemorate the victims of the Nazi Genocide.
This year’s event takes place between 12.30pm – 1.30pm at The Broadway Campus, and includes a keynote speech by Holocaust Survivor Mala Tribich who was born in 1930 in Piotrkow Trybunalski, Poland. When the Nazis invaded Poland in 1939 Mala and her family fled before being forced to live in a ghetto. Mala became a slave labourer until 1944 when she was moved to Ravensbruck concentration camp and then to Bergen-Belsen.
Ian Austin MP will welcome visitors to the event and will thank the guest speakers. Ian said: ‘More and more people attend the event each year to pay their respects and listen to the amazing stories of those who have survived the Holocaust and hear about the great bravery of those who risked their own lives to save others.
The service will end with the ceremonial lighting of Candle of Remembrance as the Deputy Mayor leads local faith leaders in two minutes silence.
