Students meet sporting hero

Nov 26 2013

Dudley College Cricket Development students recently had the honour of meeting Mike Gatting OBE, a former English cricketer, who played first-class cricket for Middlesex, captaining the national side in twenty-three Test matches between 1986 and 1988.

Dudley cricket coach and former 1st class county player Dave Banks said: "When I was asked if the players would like the opportunity to meet Mike Gatting I jumped at the chance. It was a great opportunity for these cricket-mad students to have a Q & A session with someone as talented and experienced as Mike Gatting.

The students, many who are studying Sport, Public Services and A Levels at Dudley Sixth, met Mike before their weekly Thursday evening match at Wolverhampton indoor arena. The team has had a fantastic start to the new indoor season winning 10 straight games to top Division 2.
