Charity bike ride helps children's unit

A Dudley College lecturer has helped raise more then £500 by organising a charity bike ride.

Paul Jones and colleagues Brian Price, Mark Duffield, Mark Hall, Steve Cutter, Dave O’Sullivan and Gary Box from the College's construction department cycled  50 miles to Bridgnorth and back to help raise the funds.

Paul said: 'The weather was awful, very windy and heavy rain the day of the challenge but we were determined to complete and we did.'  We would also like to thank our vehicle support team Neil Lewis and Mick Littleales for their support.

Last year we took part in the Wolverhampton to Aberdovey bike ride which inspired us so much we decided to organise own event to help support our local children's ward at Russells Hall Hospital.

Fundraising Co-ordinator Karen Phillips at Russells Hall said: 'Every penny donated adds extra value to the already excellent care offered by the NHS.  It enables us to buy new medical equipment, provide specialist training for staff and improve patient comfort.'
