Seventeen Travel and Tourism students at Dudley College were interviewed this week by staff from Servisair a company based at Birmingham Airport. Servisair is one of the world's leading operators in aviation ground services. Servisair brings together expertise and innovation developed locally, to deliver an integrated range of ground services that contribute to the development of Customers' requirements.
The students who are currently studying a one year course 'Aviation Environment' which is a industry related qualification, are taught partly in college and the other practical elements at Birmingham Airport by Servisair trainers.
Travel and Tourism Lecturer Rajinder Haire, who delivers the course which is an industry related qualification in partnership with Birmingham Airport, said: 'This is an experience of a lifetime for many of our learners who wish to pursue a career within the aviation industry as they will gain real life experience at the airport both of landside and airside. Having the chance to work at one of the busiest airports in the Country is fantastic."
Craig Cooper Training and Recruitment Officer for Servisair said: 'The students thoroughly enjoyed their work experience and felt they had gained a better understanding of why procedures and policies are put into place."
During their training the students help to check in passengers, follow procedures for passengers boarding, observing passport checks and meet flights. Linking the students learning with the industry gives them the edge when applying for vacancies at any airport.
