Dudley Holocaust Memorial Day Event
Dudley North MP, Ian Austin, and Dudley College Students' Union are working together once again to organise this years Holocaust Memorial Day giving local people the opportunity to commemorate the victims of the Nazi Genocide.
This year's event takes place between 12pm - 1.00pm at The Broadway Campus, and includes a keynote speech by Holocaust Survivor Eva Clarke. Eva, who was born in the Mauthausen Concentration Camp three days before it was liberated by allied troops, will share her experiences of how 15 of her family members fell victim to the Nazi genocide.
Ian Austin MP will welcome visitors to the event, and introduce students from Bishop Milner Catholic School who will deliver a presentation 'Lessons from Auschwitz'.
The Bishop of Dudley, David Walker, will thank the guest speakers before joining multi faith leaders in lighting a candle of remembrance and holding a two minutes silence. The event will finish with a prayer read by Rabbi Margaret Jacobi from the Birmingham Progressive Synagogue, with closing remarks by Cllr David Sparks, Leader of Dudley Council.
