School Leaver Training Opportunities at College Open Day

Jan 07 2013

Dudley College is opening their doors across the new Learning Quarter to prospective students on Saturday 12 January from 10am - 2pm. Staff will be on hand at the Broadway site, the recently opened Evolve centre on Tower Street, Dudley Sixth on Ednam Road and the specialised motor vehicle training centre on Wolverhampton Street, to talk to school leavers about their training, employment and career options.

The Open Day is an excellent opportunity to visit all of the college’s buildings and have a look at the great facilities on offer, including the theatre, sports hall, fitness centre, mac suites, well equipped teaching rooms, i-point learning centres and the college’s cafes and social areas.

The college offers a wide range of work-related courses at different levels, so whatever your grades, we’ll have something to suit you. You can also find out about Apprenticeships which give you the opportunity to study for a qualification whilst working and earning.

With lots of demos and opportunities to try out a trade, visitors will be able to check-in to ‘Fly Evolve’, our very own aeroplane, try out the latest Apple Mac’s graphic and game design packages, and get hands on experience with our engineering challenges and demos.

Staff from our hair and beauty department will help you try out your styling skills, and the college construction team have laid on demonstrations so you can have a go at bricklaying and some of the other trades courses are available in. For those looking at a career in the sport and leisure industry or uniformed services there will be plenty of staff and students to give you a real insight into these courses and careers.

Lowell Williams, Principal at the college said “Our Open Days are always popular as they are a great way of finding out first hand what’s on offer at the college, especially now visitors can walk around the Learning Quarter and visit all our sites.

“I’d encourage anyone who’s considering their options to call in on Saturday and find out what courses we offer, whatever your expected grades are I’m confident we’ll have a course that’s right for you. The Open Day is very informal and we encourage young people to being along their parents, family and friends, as their support helps prospective students make the right decisions about their future.”
