Evolve Hair & Beauty Official Launch

Nov 09 2012

Patrick Cameron with Dudley College StudentsPatrick Cameron, the world famous hair stylist, visited Dudley College to officially open the new Evolve Hair and Beauty facilities on Thursday 8 November. The event, supported by Wella, a partner of the college's training and commercial salon involved Patrick cutting a ceremonial ribbon and demonstrating his hair styling skills and expertise to an audience of employers, apprentices, staff and students.

Patrick Cameron is acknowledged as the long hair expert, and since arriving in the United Kingdom from New Zealand in 1987, Patrick has worked in association with Wella. He is a regular presenter at prestigious global hairdressing events and has established a training school in London which he also takes on the road providing students across the globe with the opportunity to study with him.

The official opening was also attended by salon owners and their apprentices from Leddingtons, Hanleys and Tulip Hair and key members of the college's management team. The training of these apprentices and over 300 other hair and beauty students takes place in the commercial salon and some of the specialised training rooms in the new development.

Patrick told the students and college staff "I'd like to congratulate Dudley College on such a fantastic building that's been designed to inspire students - it's charged with enthusiasm and a great place, with great tutors, for our future hair and beauty experts to develop their skills. Evolve Hair and Beauty has been built for success and it's going to provide a commercial environment for the students so they are ready for work. The salon encapsulates everything you need to provide the right environment for students to work with clients and get the experience that is so valuable to them."

Evolve Hair & Beauty was also presented with a Wella 'Salon of Excellence' award, of which only 30 colleges nationally have been accredited. Wella have selected the new salon for this award because of the facilities, staff expertise, students work and links with the industry. The award was presented to Bev Hunter, Centre Manager for Hair & Beauty at the College by Paul Oscroft from Wella.
