Hair apprentices at Dudley College compete for top place

Over 17 hair apprentices at Dudley College competed against each other this week to prove they are the best.

The competition which was organised by tutors and judged by curriculum managers at the College lets the students experience the pace and time restrictions of the competitions and allows them to not only show off their skills but gain ideas from fellow students. Model for hair apprentice

The competition also enables the students to complete units within their course while giving them the chance to focus on their creative side and work to their full potential.

The students who were given just a few hours to complete their impressive designs were asked to use hair techniques such as curling and curls and rolls to create a 'Prom' hair theme.

Tutor Carol Burgess said: 'Competitions like this allow the apprentices to benchmark themselves against their peers. They are also a healthy way of developing and improving the students levels of skills and abilities.'
