Holocaust Memorial Day Event

A woman who came to Britain fleeing the horrors of the Holocaust will be visiting Dudley to speak at the town's Holocaust Memorial Day event on Friday 28th January.

Dudley North MP Ian Austin and Dudley College Students Union are working together to organise the event and give local people the opportunity to commemorate the victims of the Nazi Genocide.

A commemoration has been held at the college for the last five years and takes place between 12noon and 1pm at The Broadway Campus to make it easier for people working in the town to attend.

The event will include a talk by Holocaust Survivor Susi Bechhofer and a short presentation from local students who recently went to Auschwitz through the Holocaust Educational Trusts lessons from Auschwitz program.

Ian Austin MP will introduce students from Dudley College who visited Auschwitz this year, before Susi Bechhofer gives the keynote speech. The Bishop of Dudley will thank the guest speakers before joining multi faith leaders in lighting a candle of remembrance and holding a two minutes silence.

The event will finish with a prayer read by Rabbi Margaret Jacobi from the Birmingham Progressive Synagogue.
