Dudley College Student Tyree Clarke (18) has been selected for the final trial stage for the U19 England Colleges team. Having impressed at the national trials held on 3rd November the selectors have included Tyree in the last 33 players in the entire country. Tyree will now go to a training / selection weekend held at Lilleshall in December.
Tyree originally from Tividale was picked up by Norwich City as a youngster and became a scholar at the age of 16. Unfortunately Tyree was not offered professional terms but he is determined to make a career in football. In the Summer Tyree made the decision to go back home and back to College and continue with his education whilst playing semi professional football for Stafford Rangers in the Conference North.
Sports Development Manager Simon King thinks Tyree is a great example to other players. "Tyree came to us in August to enquire about our sports and football programme. We had a good chat about his options and Tyree made the decision to train as a gym instructor alongside playing football. It is great to see that Tyree has grabbed the opportunities available at Dudley College and now he is one step away from representing his country."
Simon added: "We are so pleased for Tyree and believe he has the ability to emulate Chris Knight who also played for England Colleges last year. No matter what happens from here, to be recognised as one of the best 33 players in College football is some achievement and something all the staff and students are very proud of."
