Dudley College is joining in the Big Draw, the largest drawing festival in the world.
A huge epic canvass will be laid out covering the floor of the college's main hall, and students and staff will be contributing to drawing the massive piece of artwork. The theme this year is 'It's Our World - Our Natural World', which aims to encourage us to consider the environment in which we live by reflecting upon the impact we all make upon the natural world during everyday life.
Everyone, regardless of their drawing ability, will be invited to sketch, scribble or draw during the event on Thursday 23 October 2014 from 11am - 3pm organised by the Campaign for Drawing.
Once the day of the Big Draw is over, art and design students will use a piece of the giant canvass as a basis to develop their own piece of artwork, which will be exhibited in the CUBE Gallery at Broadway. The day will also be documented by the college's media students through film and photography.
David Malone, Head of Performance studies explained: "We're hoping by making this event fun, with no boundaries to constrict how you draw, people will rediscover how much they enjoy drawing. To inspire participants the art students will begin by drawing a forest of trees
The Campaign for Drawing, which organises the Big Draw nationally, is an independent charity which raises the profile of drawing as a tool for thought, creativity, social and cultural engagement.
