Annual Graduate Ceremony honours college students

More than 300 people assembled at Dudley College for the Higher Awards ceremony on Friday 4 December to celebrate the achievements of the college's graduates. The annual graduation event saw over 70 students from a range of business, accounting, management, engineering, teaching, construction, fashion, public services and sport courses, enjoy a traditional university-style event in recognition of their hard work and achievements.

The event began at Dudley Evolve on Tower Street, where graduates collected their gowns and mortar boards, before they filed across Coronation Gardens to The Great Hall on the college's Broadway campus where the official ceremony was to take place.

Their families and guests awaited their arrival in the Great Hall, entertained by songs by Musical Theatre students and watched the progress of the candlelit procession streamed live to the big screen.

Lowell Williams, Principal at the college introduced the event: "It is with great pleasure that I welcome you, our graduands, together with your families and friends, to our annual Higher Awards Ceremony. This is our chance to celebrate your successes and personal achievements, as well as offering you our congratulations.

You have shown that hard work, determination and dedication do pay. These personal attributes have brought you the success you richly deserve. In today’s fast-moving world, the knowledge and skill demands placed on employees, managers and the self-employed are increasing as each year goes by. New recruits and those already in the workplace need new and changing skills in order to be able to contribute to their organisation’s success.

We wish you, our graduands, the successful future we know you deserve and are proud to have played an important role in helping you along the path of your own lifetime of learning.

Congratulations, I hope you enjoy the ceremony."
