Power of Hope unites Archbishop and Malala
The Archbishop of Canterbury: The Most Reverend Justin Welby, paid tribute to the beauty of the friendship shown to him in the Black Country during an event held at Dudley College which was attended by over 300 people from all religions and faiths from across the region.
The Power of Hope event bought together Malala Yousafzai Nobel Peace Prize winner and the archbishop. Malala spoke of how she decided to make a stand that girls be allowed to receive an education in 2009 after the Taliban banned girls from attending school in her home province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Most Reverend Justin Welby spoke of his admiration for Malala and how her faith and belief in education had inspired her determination.
During his visit the Archbishop, spent time speaking to and praying with church members, schoolchildren and members of the public at various events across the borough.
