Free Mobile Data

Support for remote learning

Upgrade your mobile data at no cost

To support remote learning during the pandemic, the government are making it easier for disadvantaged students in further education to access the internet.

One of the ways they are doing this is by allowing students in further education to increase their mobile data at no cost.

Mobile data increases are available if:

  • You do not have fixed broadband at home
  • You cannot afford additional data for your device
  • Your face-to-face learning has been disrupted by the pandemic

This scheme is only available if your phone is part of one of these named networks:

  • BT Mobile
  • EE
  • giffgaff
  • iD Mobile
  • Lycamobile
  • O2
  • Sky Mobile
  • SMARTY
  • Tesco Mobile
  • Three
  • Virgin Mobile
  • Vodafone

Note: If you use another network you will not be eligible for this offer.

What data you will get depends on your mobile network and the type of contract you have. Some networks cannot offer data to Pay-as-you-go (PAYG) customers.

You can find out more details about increasing your data allowance and the various offers from your network provider on the gov.uk website here.

Please note parents, carers, children and young people cannot apply as individuals to this scheme - Dudley College of Technology must make the application for you. To allow us to do this please complete this simple form.

It should take only 4 minutes of your time.

Once your free data has been activated by your service provider you will receive a text message - with some providers this can take up to 14 days. So please be patient.
