Course Summary

This course allows you to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Bricklaying. It covers the following skills:

Carrying out Blocklaying activities
Carrying out Bricklaying activities
Carrying out Cavity Walling activities
Contribute to Setting Out and Building of Masonry Structures up to Damp Proof Course

Course Content

Brickwork Level 1 Diploma consists of a range of units, each unit will include an externally set assessment to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the unit.

Course Assessment

Continuous assessment throughout the course based on practical observation, portfolio of evidence, written assessments.

Materials

Protective clothing, footwear and writing materials are required.

Qualifications

Bricklaying City & Guilds Diploma – Level 1

Progression

Progression will be onto the Level 2 Brickwork qualification or into an apprenticeship.
Progression will depend on set criteria of passing the level 1, Good attendance, Good punctuality and positive attitude to learning.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to study for this qualification, but you must demonstrate a genuine interest in this subject, be prepared to follow high standards of behaviour and display a positive attitude to study.

You must be prepared to be working towards GCSE English and GCSE Maths, or a Functional Skill at Entry 3 level or above.

An initial assessment of your English and maths may be required depending on your qualifications to check you have the skills needed to successfully complete this course.
