Creative Media Skills BTEC Diploma Level 2

Media is fast paced and ever evolving. Throughout this one year course you will have the opportunity to gain a sound understanding of professional practice within media.

You will develop skills and techniques used in creative media industries including moving image, audio, photography, and print. You will have the opportunity to combine theory and practical tasks in an exciting and interesting way and will be encouraged to think and work creatively throughout your project work.

You will be working in a professional environment using industry standard software including the latest equipment, software and Apple Mac computers. Educational visits will also form an integral part of the curriculum.

You will be assessed through a range of practical and written assignments. External moderation of some units is likely. The form of assessment on the course will assist you as you progress either into higher levels of vocational learning or to related academic qualifications, by providing independent assessment evidence of learning alongside a practical portfolio-based assessment.

Digital equipment including computers, software and cameras will be made available to you by the college. Materials that you will need to purchase independently for your course will include; a pen, note paper, memory/USB stick, memory card for use with cameras (SD minimum Class 6 - minimum of 8gb) and hard drive.

Upon successful completion of the course you will be awarded a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Skills.

You may progress onto a level 3 qualification in Creative Media Production, Film and Television Production, Computer Games Design, Graphic Design or Photography.

Career opportunities include working within the Creative Media sector including journalism, TV, radio, film, print and social media.

You must have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, including English. Each applicant will be required to attend an interview where you will need to show some work which showcases your creative flair for the subject and demonstration of your written/verbal communication skills.
