Course Summary

The CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.
Upon achievement of this qualification it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years practitioners.

This qualification is suitable for a range of learners, either working or wishing to work in early years education and care. It is also suitable for those wishing to progress to higher education.

Upon achievement of this qualification learners will gain their licence to practise and it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators or progress to higher education.

Learners can progress into various job roles in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors such as:

• practitioner in day nurseries
• practitioner in nursery schools
• practitioner in reception classes in primary schools
• pre-school worker

Course Content

We have structured the units around four themes:
• Theme 1: Health and well-being
• Theme 2: Legislation, frameworks and professional practice
• Theme 3: Play, development and learning for school readiness
• Theme 4: Professional development

Course Assessment

All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This will include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, word processed or written assignments or a task set by CACHE. Some learning outcomes within this qualification will require assessment in a real work environment.

Progression

Foundation degree, Higher App or level 4 Early Years Practitioner

Entry Requirements

It is a requirement that learners will need to achieve a level 2 in their initial assessments for Math’s and English.

Students need to be working in a day nursey or school nursery

You will need to secure a placement in an Early Years setting for a minimum of 12 hours per week.
