Course Summary
This course offers a level 3 technical qualification that will provide learners with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress into skilled employment or higher-level technical training or study in the legal sector. The core knowledge and understanding will be assessed through an examination and core skills through a practical employer-set project.
It is for post-16 learners and is ideal if you are intending to progress directly to employment within the legal services sector in roles such as a business assistant in legal services function, Executive Officer (EO) Caseworker, to a legal service-related apprenticeship, or to further studies in legal services.
As part of the programme of study the learner will complete a significant industrial placement.
This course is suitable for learners who are interested in a career within the legal sector. This is a two-year, full-time course that will give the learner the options of moving into a skilled occupation or further study including degree level apprenticeship or higher education.
Course Content
On this course you will study topics including:
• The business environment,
• Regulation,
• Professionalism and ethics,
• Fundamentals of law,
• The legal services sector,
• Crime,
• Criminal justice,
• Social welfare
You will complete an industry placement of 315 hour (45 days) minimum.
Course Assessment
You will be assessed through an exam-based assessment. The core knowledge and understanding are assessed through an examination and core skills through a practical employer-set project.
Qualifications
This T level is equivalent to three A levels.
Progression
Students completing this course usually go on to further study in degree related programmes:
• Law
• Criminology
• Business Studies
Or, Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ). Like T Levels, HTQs are developed in consultation with employers. They are qualifications at levels 4 and 5 and prepare you for occupations at these levels.
This course can lead to careers in:
Legal services roles such as Business Assistant in a legal services function.
An Apprenticeship in:
• Paralegal
• Level 4 Conveyancing Technician
• Level 4 Probate Technician
• The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives professional qualifications
Entry Requirements
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and maths at grade 5.
