Course Summary

The aim of Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles qualification is designed to provide:
The knowledge, understanding and practical skills required to start a career as a mechanic/ technician in the motor vehicle service and repair industry.
It also provides the knowledge component of the IMI SSC Maintenance and Repair Apprenticeship Standards for Light Vehicle.

• Vehicle servicing and repair
• Vehicle technology
• Workshop practical
• Functional skills/ GCSE
• Work experience.
• Online learning

Course Assessment

The assessment of this VRQ is made up of 3 components:
• IMI Awards set practical tasks
• IMI Awards set online testing
• IMI Awards set written assignment (coursework).

Materials

You will need to provide your own stationery and your own safety shoes/boots (with steel toecaps) and overalls. A dress code and workbook are required and will be discussed at interview.

Qualifications

Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles (VRQ)

Progression

IMI Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, Light Vehicle Mechanics Level 3 (VRQ), Apprenticeship or T level.

Entry Requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above OR have passed IMI/City Guilds Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 1 or equivalent.
