Course Content

The course provides you with the skills and knowledge needed to work within the production arts areas of film, television and theatre. You will learn skills in special effect make-up application, set design and construction and costume design and construction. You will work on a variety of projects and productions which will develop skills further. Aspects of the course include learning the following techniques; body casting, prosthetics, make-up for performance, theatre design, sculpture, mask making, drawing, mould making, character design, costume making, prop making.

Course Assessment

You will be assessed on your coursework, both practical and project-based.

Materials

You will need to buy a make-up kit at a cost of £100 per year (£200 in total). Financial support may be available to cover these additional costs, please contact Learner Service for more information.

Progression

Degree or foundation degrees in costume, make-up, fashion design, production and set design, stage management and fine art and design programmes.
Career options: Make-up, costume, set or production designer.

Entry Requirements

You must have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English. You will also be asked to attend an interview with a portfolio of art and design work.
