Course Summary

The Pearson BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Sport is designed around practical skills and tasks that place an emphasis on learners demonstrating what they can do rather than what they know in theory.

Course Content

Learners will cover a range of topis from:
Being Organised
Developing a Personal Progression Plan
Working with Others
Researching a Topic
How Exercise Affects the Body
Training for Fitness
Playing Sport
Coaching Skills in Sport
Assisting in a Sports Activity
Contributing to Running a Sports Event
Getting People Active
Keeping Active and Healthy

Course Assessment

Each learning aim has assessment criteria to explain the achievement
required to obtain Pass, Merit and Distinction grades.

Assessments will be varied and will cover a multitude of skills, ranging from report writing, delivering presentaions to coaching practical sessions

Materials

General stationery and a USB stick need to be provided by the student.

As a sports department, we pride ourselves on our reputation and professionalism in the area. This is evident in the way our students look around the college and, more importantly, whilst representing Dudley College at sports events and during work placements.

We have put a dress code package together at a cost of approximately £130 based on the needs of students for their course, eam Sports training and work experience.

You will need to pre-order the package during enrolment.

Qualifications

Sport BTEC L1 Sport and Active Leisure

Progression

Sports NCFE level 2 diploma in coaching or NCFE leve;l 2 diploma in sport, exercise and fitness.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements to study for this qualification, but you must demonstrate a genuine interest in this subject, be prepared to follow high standards of behaviour and display a positive attitude to study.

You must be prepared to be working towards GCSE English and GCSE Maths, or a Functional Skill at Entry 3 level or above.

An initial assessment of your English and maths may be required depending on your qualifications to check you have the skills needed to successfully complete this course.
