Course Summary

This course has been designed for team leaders or supervisors in a first line management role, with operational or project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team to deliver a clearly defined outcome. They provide direction, instructions and guidance to ensure the achievement of set goals. Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities will vary. Key responsibilities are likely to include supporting, managing and developing team members, managing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems, and building relationships internally and externally.

Job roles include Supervisor, Team leader, Project Officer, Shift Supervisor, Foreperson, and Shift Manager, or those aspiring to work in these roles.

The apprenticeship provides a programme of study that encompasses competence & technical elements of team leadership & supervision. It offers the opportunity to gain both a sought after qualification from the Chartered Management Institute, CMI, and development and recognition of highly transferrable work skills, knowledge & behaviours.

Successful apprentices will gain the Level 3 Certificate in Principles of Leadership & Management, as well as Foundation Chartered Manager status, with the post nominals of fCMgr, along with 3 months free membership of CMI.

• Decision Making

This is combined with the development of workplace skills, knowledge & behaviours

Course Assessment

Apprentices will work towards final assessments conducted by CMI, End Point Assessment (EPA) includes:

*Presentation with questions and answers, to a CMI assessor, with a minimum duration of 50 minutes. The presentation is created by the learner on a topic provided by CMI.
*Professional discussion with a CMI assessor, underpinned by a portfolio of evidence, which is developed throughout the course, with a minimum duration of 1 hour.

In addition, learners will complete 2 knowledge-based assigments, which are moderated both internally by Dudley College and externally by CMI, to ensure that all outcomes for the L3 Certificate in Principles of Leadership & Management are successfully met.

Progression

The Level 5 Operations and Deparmental Manager Apprenticehip is open to successful learners with sufficient work-based development opportunities. Successful learners can also choose to progress to Business or Customer Service Specialist apprenticeships.

Entry Requirements

Individual employers will set their own selection criteria. This can include a minimum of Level 2 Maths and English. Apprentices without level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve Functional Skills Level 2 prior to taking final assessments.
